Who Are the Footlight Players?
The Footlight Players boast a long-standing legacy dating back to the early 1930s. In 1931, the theater company made its big debut with a series of one-act plays in the Charleston Navy Yard. After earning enormous applause, the Footlight Players formally organized and incorporated the following year.

Over the decades, the Footlight Players continued to perform in various spaces throughout the Holy City. While searching for a permanent stage, the theatre company gifted its audiences city-wide with must-see productions – from the Academy of Music to The Citadel.
Finally, in 1986, the Footlight Players settled in an old cotton warehouse on Queen Street. Today, the Queen Street playhouse continues to serve as the proud home of the Footlight Players.
